In the Luftwaffe, RAL 7016 ran under the designation Luftwaffenblaugrau, the Navy called RAL 7016 Dunkelgrau 1. According to special Luftwaffe regulation 416 from 1938, Luftwaffe vehicles should also be painted in RAL 7021 Dunkelgrau Nr. 21.
