Dora Wings 1/48 scale model kit.
The Fairey Delta 2 (FD2) was a British experimental supersonic research aircraft designed to investigate flight characteristics at transonic and supersonic speeds. On March 10, 1956, piloted by Peter Twiss, it made history by setting a new World Air Speed Record of 1,132 mph (1,822 km/h), exceeding the previous record by over 300 mph. Its revolutionary “droop-nose” design allowed the entire cockpit and nose section to tilt downwards, providing the pilot with essential visibility during landing—a concept that would later become a signature feature of the Concorde.
Kit Features & Details:
Large Scale Presence: The 1/48 scale provides a substantial and impressive model, perfect for showcasing the aircraft’s radical aerodynamic profile.
Photo-Etched (PE) Details: Includes a dedicated PE fret for a highly detailed cockpit, seat belts, and fine exterior instrumentation probes.
Surface Precision: Features exceptionally crisp, recessed panel lines and realistic metallic surface textures typical of high-speed research craft.
Droop-Nose Representation: Accurately captures the unique hinge and structural lines of the iconic tilting nose section.
Authentic Research Decals: High-quality markings are provided for the specific airframes (WG774 or WG777) that participated in the record-breaking flight programs.
