The super-heavy tank developed in secret by the Imperial Japanese Army was known by its code name "Oi" and by the manufacturer as "Mito." Under strict confidentiality, the design and one prototype were built and subjected to road tests.

The existence of this truly "phantom" tank, with its weight, number of units, and development history being subject to various theories, is revealed not only in its shape but also in the history of its development, based on historical documents of the actual tank that we have obtained exclusively.

These are some photos of the Oi historical documents in our possession. The drawings contained in these documents reveal the dimensions and shape , and the Mito Car Journal (the name Mito Car was the internal name of the company that manufactured the Oi ) that records the manufacturing process also reveals the process of prototype manufacturing and test runs . The facts revealed by these documents will be explained in detail in the manual for the actual vehicle that comes with the plastic model. *Please refrain from reusing (reproducing or copying) the above historical photographs without permission.

About the Japanese heavy tank Oi tank that appears in World of Tanks

Update 9.10 was released for the online tank battle game " World of Tanks " on Thursday, September 3rd . This update introduced Japanese heavy tanks, including the Oi heavy tank. It was previously thought that all documentation of the Oi had been lost, but our company obtained drawings of the actual tank and historical documents revealing its development history. Wargaming subsequently approached us, and based on these documents, we decided to recreate this legendary heavy tank in the game. This visual recreation of the Oi marks a world first, and of course, our plastic model is also the first in the world to be based on actual vehicle documentation. The Japanese heavy tank tree in " World of Tanks " also includes the Type 89 medium tank, which still remains at Tsuchiura Garrison, the Oi's successor, and the Type 5 heavy tank, equipped with a 140mm gun, at Tier 10.
