A II Khaki Green Color Guide:

• An authentic Soviet Air Force aircraft khaki green color (Rus: Защитный [zɐˈɕːitnɨj], meaning literally: Protective).
• А II Защ. Защитный, the color used for the upper surface camouflage of Soviet aircraft in 1937-1941. The lower surfaces, according to this camouflage scheme were originally painted А II Ал. Алюминиевый, then in 1940 this paint was replaced with А II Св. Гол. Светлоголубой.
• A II Zashch. Protective was used to paint only wooden or fabric aircraft parts, while for metal parts its enamel analog А-19ф Зелёная was used. In some of the historical photos, you can distinctly see the different shades on the metal and fabric surfaces of the planes. This was because different paints were used, which also had different aging properties.
• In 1941, the A II Zashch. Protective color was succeeded by АМТ-4 Зелёная which was in use until the end of the 1940s.
