As the saying goes, "You can't fight on an empty stomach," food is one of the most important things on the battlefield. During the war, the Japanese Army mainly used rice cookers for field cooking, but they also used field cooking utensils for large groups that could cook about 300 meals per hour. This kit features three-dimensional representations of the stove, kettle, and large spoon (shakushi = rice scoop) of these field cooking utensils. It also comes with a Type 97 water boiler, a portable water heater. It is said that hot food and drink relieves mental fatigue on the battlefield, and water boilers were also used to boil and sterilize food and prevent water from freezing in cold regions. In addition, the set includes three expressive figures: a soldier cooking at a stove with a large spoon, a soldier cutting pickled radish with a knife, and a soldier pouring hot water from a water boiler into a bucket. It also comes with a wooden ration box designed in accordance with the packaging guidelines revised in 1938.
