Serial production of the T-62 tank was carried out by Uralvagonzavod until 1973. For 10 years of production, about 20 thousand "sixty-two" were manufactured. During series production, little has changed on the linear T-62s. All improvements were mainly reduced to the installation of more modern equipment and weapons. In connection with the emergence of a new threat against helicopters armed with anti-tank guided missiles, anti-aircraft machine guns began to be installed on tanks again in the early 1970s. To this end, the turret was modified, with the compact tilted loading hatch replaced by a more spacious horizontal one with a turret and a K-10T telescopic sight. As an anti-aircraft gun on the T-62, a 12.7mm DShKM machine gun mod. 1938/46 with a rate of fire of 600 rounds per minute, although the rate of fire is limited to 125 rpm due to the need to change bands. The effective range of the DShKM reaches 2,200 meters.
